Jim Chester is Of Counsel at Klemchuk PLLC in Dallas. A technology and business attorney with more than 25 years of experience, he advises entrepreneurs, emerging companies, and established businesses on corporate governance, business and technology transactions, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property strategy and enforcement, licensing, e-commerce, and international business matters. In addition to his law practice, he is a full-time Professor of Practice at SMU’s Cox School of Business, teaching Business Law and Entrepreneurial Legal Strategies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Before joining the SMU faculty, he taught for 20 years as an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School and also taught at the University of Dallas and East Texas A&M University. Professor Chester has written or co-written numerous articles and books addressing technology, intellectual property, international trade, and business law. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a Life Fellow of both the Texas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Bar Foundation. Professor Chester earned a B.S. in Economics and Political Science, with high honors, from East Texas A&M University; a J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston; and an LL.M. in International Economic Law from the University of Houston Law Center.  Professor Chester has been recognized by Super Lawyers for 15 years over a period spanning nearly two decades—first as a Texas Rising Star and later as a Texas Super Lawyer. He was also named to D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Dallas” list. He holds an AV Preeminent peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 rating from Avvo. He also has a higher education teaching certificate from Harvard University.
